In common with many other industries the health and care sector need to recruit staff from afield and from all parts of society. Inevitably this means that some new staff, whilst immediately making a contribution in the workplace and having high future potential, lack the basic skills of language and arithmetic. This can affect both the standard of their work and their ability to study for the formal qualifications such as NVQs, that they need. |
